“Wrinkles will only go where the smiles have been.”

– Jimmy Buffet

Seems like the world has gone a bit bonkers over age, don’t you think? The other day on TikTok, I saw a bunch of Millennials getting shamed by Gen-Z for being “too old.” Can you believe it? And let’s not forget those women tearing each other down for looking their age! Oh, the horror! Even men rocking their glorious grey hair are subject to ridicule for looking “ancient.” Seriously, folks, when did aging become a criminal offense?

Guess what? We’re all on the same aging train, my friend. Every. Single. Day. It’s like an involuntary rollercoaster ride that we can’t skip, no matter how desperately we try.

And let’s not forget about those articles that dissect the gradual transformation of our favorite celebrities into unrecognizable beings. Quick, somebody call the paparazzi because what we really need is a hard-hitting investigation into the devastating effects of time on the rich and famous!

Have you seen those “aging backwards” videos where celebrities take a trip down memory lane on TikTok or Reels? These poor souls are bombarded with comments from self-proclaimed beauty critics who are horrified that someone dared to age like a regular human being. It’s like they expected these stars to defy the laws of time and gravity just to please their delicate sensibilities.

I don’t know why some people on social media act like they’ve discovered the Fountain of Youth. I’ve seen folks in their 30s and 40s throwing shade at anyone who dares to look their age. It’s like they’re on a mission to prove they’re Benjamin Button’s long-lost sibling. The ones doing the most shaming are the very ones who should know better. You’ve got 30-year-olds lecturing others on looking 50, as if it’s a crime to show a wrinkle or two.

We live in a society where youth is worshipped, almost like a divine entity. The young tremble with fear at the mere thought of getting older, and heaven forbid if they happen to look their actual age! Meanwhile, the middle-aged are strutting their stuff, embracing their years like a badge of honor – but secretly praying not to show it on their faces!

And what about the beauty brands that have 20-year-olds promoting their wrinkle reducers? They are sharing Instagram reels of young girls with already perfect, glowing skin – showing us their skincare “routine” with PR kindly gifted to them from the most popular beauty brands. At that age, I was just darn lucky to get my makeup off, let alone have an anti-aging routine.

Hey, beauty industry, newsflash for you too: we’re all getting older. No skincare product can magically turn back the clock, no matter how fancy the packaging or promising the claims. So maybe, just maybe, let’s embrace our laugh lines and proudly rock the wisdom that comes with each passing year. Because let’s face it, life is too short to spend it worrying about looking like a forever 21-year-old.

As if fighting wrinkles and blurring lines will stop reminding of us of our mortality.

As a passionate beauty enthusiast, I am absolutely thrilled to share my journey with you. Believe me, my love for all things makeup knows no bounds! I’ve carved out this exciting space on TikTok, where I showcase my favorite products and connect with a wonderful community of fellow beauty aficionados.

It’s incredible how perfect strangers can come together through the sheer magic of social media to discuss, experiment, and celebrate our shared passion. For me, makeup is so much more than just a superficial layer. It’s an art form that empowers and transforms, allowing us to express ourselves boldly and unapologetically. It’s a way of saying, “This is me, world! Take it or leave it!”

I embrace every part of my journey, including my age. I proudly wear my lines and wrinkles, for they tell stories of a life well-lived. There is nothing to conceal, as they reflect my wisdom and experiences.

Those lines around my mouth, they show I’ve smiled every morning of my life with my partner, hearing the sounds of his breath on the pillow next to me. The crinkles at the corner of my eyes show I’ve laughed along with my children at every minute and hour, having had the privilege of watching them grow.

The lines on my forehead? These show that I have fiercely loved, each line etched on my forehead for every worry, every impulsive act I’ve contemplated, and every look of surprise. Every groove and curve of each line is a memento of my strength and perseverance. These are reminders of life I don’t mind having.

Me. Unfiltered. Showing off my makeup look.

Mid-life is a beautiful chapter in life that I truly cherish, a moment that holds so much depth and meaning. Embracing the journey of aging is a true gift, a testament to the richness of life experiences. I am filled with absolute gratitude for having reached this milestone. Every wrinkle, every gray hair IS a badge of honor, signifying wisdom, resilience, and a life lived well. Let us celebrate this remarkable stage with passion and enthusiasm, for it is a testament to the beauty of the human spirit!
